ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH (ABG) is part of world’s largest steelmaking group ArcelorMittal S.A., produces up to 4 Mt/y of crude steel with a hot rolling mill capacity of 4.8 Mt/y. The steelworks holds 2 blast furnaces, a steel mill, hot and cold rolling mill and two galvanizing lines among other units and the coke oven plant in Bottrop. The product mix ranges from pig iron to hot rolled, cold rolled, to zinc and zinc magnesium galvanized steel stripes for various industrial applications and car makers.
The Department of Models and Simulations is experienced since more than 15 years in the areas of Operations Research, logistical simulations and process models and supports the realization, on-site implementation, field testing and validation of the SMARTER system at ABG.
