K1-MET GmbH, Linz, Austria (K1-MET) is a competence center for the optimization and development of metallurgical and environmental processes. K1-MET has an intensive and close network to the Austrian steel sector and to international research institutes. Currently, about 80 people are employed at K1-MET divided into two centers: a head office located in Linz and a branch office at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben.
In SMARTER, K1-MET mainly works on modelling innovative process and production units relevant for decarbonising the steel production and supports scenario analyses considering the gradual transition from the traditional to a novel C-lean production route.
